Mexican Japan

Today we had tacos for lunch. But what tacos these were!

Much like my family, the tortillas were heated up on a grill...but the fillings were way different than what I was expecting! Only in Japan would you make a taco with breaded shrimp, raw salmon, bean sprouts, cucumbers, whole lettuce leaves, and avocados. The "salsa" also tasted more like the stuff you dip shrimp in and the whole family swore that it was spicy. Let me tell you, it was nothing compared to pico de gallo.

And you could have knocked them back with a feather when I asked if they had any cheese.

It is always interesting to learn how other cultures have been adapted when you're in a foreign culture not your own. And you can always learn new things!
